Teaching is a fulfilling and rewarding career, you guide, teach, inspire, and shape the minds of the young generations while contributing significantly to society. Teachers are an imperative part of the community and the backbone of the education system. As we celebrate Teachers’ Day on 5th October, it is important to acknowledge the tremendous impact that teachers have on our lives and the world around us. This year the day is hosted under the theme “Valuing teacher voices: towards a new social contract for education". ?The efforts, dedication and commitment of our teachers cannot go unnoticed.? They play a pivotal role in our societies. They are the building blocks on which a society is built, a pillar that every nation can lean on, the foundation to all the professions, and above all, they are the maker of a nation.

Teachers’ day presents a great opportunity for teachers to be celebrated, honored for the positive impacts they made in our lives. ?They are the social servant and without them the world will have no class. This is the time we need to reflect on the teachers who made a difference and shape our lives in different ways.? Can one bathe without water? Certainly not, so as elementary education cannot take place without teachers. ?Indeed, teaching is, without a doubt, about improving life chances. The importance of teachers cannot be overemphasised; hence they need to be celebrated, appreciated as they continue to push the limits of human potential.

There are various routes to becoming a teacher and one of them is to get yourself a bachelor’s degree with IOL.? ?On Teachers’ Day, IOL would like to extend its gratitude to all the teachers, student teachers and IOL aspiring teachers for engaging in the most noble of profession and for helping to shape other professions.
