'I Threw Pebbles in the Lake as the Moon Rose'
One of my ongoing themes is the Moon. When I lived in Cyprus the moon used to change colour as it slowly rose above the horizon and also appeared larger than in the UK. This was part of my idea when I began this painting.
The main inspiration was my fantasy place which I visit in my mind when stressed. I like to visualise a lake - probably in a place like Canada - and I'm sitting by rippling water with trees nearby and throwing pebbles in the water as the moon slowly rises. I have painted the moon in different phases and colours to represent the passage of time as time was also part of my theme.
This painting has been going on for months! Moons got changed, their positions changed, their colours changed! Things got taken out then put back in. I have signed it on the back but there's always the chance I may revisit it.
