I think I know where I have been going wrong!
Recently I was living on my own, and this lasted for nine weeks. During this time my eating patterns became random. Bread pudding was, on a couple of occasions, eaten as lunch and dinner. Before you start to think, that’s not much, the portion sizes served by the local shop are very big, so I didn’t feel deprived or empty. Pasta with pesto also became a thing. My weight has not really reduced, despite me doing exercise every day. This was not always to the level of exercise I had been doing, but it was fairly consistent. Something was going wrong but, frankly, I had enough to think about without adding this issue to the list.
One thing I noticed was that I was quite dozy, but I put this down to really bad sleeping patterns. Worry will do that. Then one day, I ate my pasta and pesto and then I fell asleep. Not in a good way, but in a slightly drugged way. ?When I finally woke up feeling groggy rather than refreshed I realised something was wrong. I had to work out what, because whatever it was it was undermining me. So, I did what I suggest to my clients, I went back to basics. After checking things like the number of calories I was burning from 30 minutes of hula hooping and 30 minutes on my twisty thing, ?I began reviewing my portion sizes and it didn’t take me long to realise why, despite all the exercise I was doing, the weight was staying exactly where it was.
What I did was put the kitchen scales out rather than in the cupboard and I added the type of bowl I would usually use. Then I poured out the amount of pasta I had been measuring by eye…”Flippin’ ‘heck!” was very similar to what I actually said when I saw how much pasta I was actually cooking for a meal. This explained why I was so tired after eating. My stomach was sending out for help to digest the food and other parts of my body were answering the call and, since it didn’t have enough energy to digest the food and keep me awake I would fall asleep.
Now Blaise is back home I am having to adjust to his greatly reduced appetite. He has lost about 7?kg?(about a stone) but he does not recommend the “Heart attack diet”. My reviewing of quantities before he came home has helped, and once I do this review again it will certainly help my weight loss because his new quantities are less than my new quantities! What has been straightforward however is knowing where I have been going wrong…everyday a school day!
