I thank G-D every morning for being a woman…

Oh, how blessed I feel to be a woman! I am a beautifully radiant creator of life, and I choose to bask in my feminine essence. My beliefs may contradict typical talk about being a woman. Plenty of people automatically associate womanhood with the pains. But after living a fruitfully ripe life into my 60’s, I have found the pleasure and privileges in the pangs of femininity.

Growing up, I had a tendency to dwell in the dramas of being a young girl. Throughout my young adulthood, I battled with self-love and accepting my body and all of its contents. I had to hear and see society’s standards for the definition of beauty. I found myself drowning in the voices and images of what was "attractive." From a young age, I began shaving, plucking and waxing hair off of this and that body part in an attempt to love myself more. Meanwhile, men were encouraged and in fact applauded for any appearance of body hair!

Being a young woman in the 70’s, I wanted to be as thin as Twiggy. I would eat less and stretch out on my bed while striving to squeeze into those oh-too-tight-for-me-pair-of-jeans. I felt like if I wanted to be accepted, I had to be pretty, skinny, hairless, soft-spoken, polite, as a result of my Parisian upbringing.

Not only this but when I chose to have children, I would have to experience what is said to be one of the most painful feelings one can go through, that of giving birth. And after 40-50 years of painful periods and primping, I would start feeling the feverish, fatigued, mood-swinging, sweaty symptoms of menopause! Sounds wonderful, does it not?

Like a romantic love story, it has taken me some time to first fall in love with my self, but secondly, to fall in love with being a woman. Women are strong, majestic, pow(her)ful beings, and we have so many gifts elegantly draping our existence.

For starters, as women, we produce the population! I am aware that yes indeed does the man assist in this process, for he gifts us with the seed of life. However, his seed can only thrive and sprout on the plain of fertility existing within the woman’s womb! It is we who provide the water, climate, and the ability to blossom into a beautiful baby. This fact of nature is all the “proving” we have to do to support the truth that women have exuberant and succulent strength.

As women, we were designed in a sensual reflection of the creativity and curves of nature itself! Be it our breasts, butts, hips, (and lumps!), we curve like marvelous mountains and dance like twisting trees. We define life as a circular cycle, and as women, we carry two circles of life, that of which are filled with nutrients, on our chests!

I think the greatest gift in being a woman is the abundance of feminine energy that I exude with and without much cognizance. And not only me, but every woman who chooses to sway through her days emanating the beauty of the yin (and her yoni!) When a lady truly feels beautiful, she vibrates her frequency of love onto all of those in her passing. Whether it is a sincere smile, a swift gaze of the eyes, or simply the soft touch of a woman, our ability to communicate without even having to articulate is absolutely remarkable. It is a charming gift that I believe only women have the privilege of possessing.

Being a woman is certainly no walk in the park. We face discrimination in the workplace, are held to unmatched standards of beauty, along with enduring natural processes that do no more than pass through the ears and eyes of our male counterparts. In essence, everything both light and dark about “being a woman” is incredibly empowering in my opinion. All that we experience adds to our deeply embedded warrior strength.

I thank G-D every morning for being a woman
