I suppose It Depends

I suppose it really depends who's generation you are talking to, sometimes. I started talking about the Wizard Of Oz (that classic turned something else movie) the other day with my daughter Gloria. I brought up how cool it was, and I'd love to watch it again very soon. My daughter looked back at me strangely, in disbelief and disgust then said "Ewwwe that movie again"!?! I returned a look back at her (like she was nuts) and said " now what's wrong with THAT movie"? From my point of view, I have been watching this movie all my life, and it is very dear to me. This movie could only be watched once a year, there were no Netflix, videos, or even movies theatres (they wouldn't show it as a rule) only tv, so it made it something special, we just had to watch. My memories are fondly watching it, with the whole family (actually in one room) together, so it is special. Most houses now, watch their own programs (on each ones tv) I'm sure like we do at our house (except for some News program or The View). This tv was the only one in the house, it was very valuable (at least to my Mom) who most of her life, had to watch on a television that's screen was in only black and white, not in color (which was a big deal) because she never grew up with one. Seeing in all color, like "Somewhere over the rainbow song", then seeing in many colors like we all should live life. The movie, where it starts out in black and white, then goes into beautiful colors of real life. Then, strangely it goes back to black and white at the end (like a time travel, but only a dream in full color) could you ever live in just black and white. Is kind of how we might be (going backward) in social respect, distancing, and not uniting as a whole culture of humanity in the world and even country. Economical times of businesses going under, fear for our health, future, and even wondering about employment, while we wait for our heroes to get knowledge from God. My daughter can't remember a time without cell phones, if my Mom was alive today, she would probably still have a land-line home phone at her house, although we always had great reception on those things. I remember buying my husband his first flip-phone, I made the mistake in not explaining it. When I tried to say how, he said he's got it, I think like it hurt his pride for me to explain. Well I really never dreamed he would throw it away (in some trash can at the mall I think) he said. That was 5 years before they invented the temporary Tracfones they sell now, what a missed opportunity, in case your regular one breaks. So getting back to the Wizard Of Oz, my daughter says "didn't they film a small person in the background, who killed himself by hanging on-set of that movie, and then they didn't even cut that part out of the film"? Then she also said " Tin-man and the Witch got deathly ill from metal and fire" remember Mom. That girl of mine is so right-on the mark, once again. I forgot all about learning that, and probably wouldn't have remembered until half the movie, ewwwe is right, how creepy to see (while knowing the tragedy they had to go through) and sad for all involved in filming. My Mom would calendar that day in once she got the tv guide magazine, she would pencil it in place of all her other plans for that day. She would have dinner earlier also, to get in the popcorn we would all munch on throughout (as we watched it). How creepy and nostalgic at the same time (to me) depending who you are talking to really. So, I can hear my Mom saying, "who cares about that, I love that movie, and they didn't really know about it at the time, or it would have been devastating to redo with the crew, it also would of cost too much money and get everybody back on set to fix the film. So yes, it really depends sometimes if you are talking to someone who grew-up in the 1980's, 2000's or even in the 1940's, like my (dearly missed) who watches over me from heaven, Mom grew up in.
