"I" Statements

Alright, let’s get into the meat of it—I statements. These are the most powerful tools in your arsenal. When you start a sentence with “I,” you’re taking ownership of your reality. You’re not blaming anyone else. Too often, we default to “you should have…” or “they should have…”—that’s all bullshit. It’s just projecting your fears onto others.
To make an I statement, you’ve got to reflect. How do I feel about this? Why does it matter? What’s the point of even having this conversation? When you start with I, you’re operating from a place of reflection and responsibility. You’re saying, “This is how I see it. This is how I feel.” It’s about taking control, not just reacting to what’s happening around you.
Let’s bring in the OODA loop—Observe, Orient, Decide, Act. When you start with I, you’re observing your own feelings, orienting yourself in the situation, making a decision, and then acting on it. This is how you take charge. This is how you avoid falling into the trap of blaming others or feeling like a victim.
