I stared at the BIG FAT ZERO and was filled with uncertainties.

ZERO videos, ZERO views, ZERO subscribers... It was a blank page as I stared at the YouTube channel of Money Playschool .

Yet, there was a sense of excitement and the possibility of building from scratch something bigger and better with a greater impact on society to enhance financial literacy.

Just saw that we've hit 10,000 views, according to YouTube stats. (If you've yet to subscribe to our YouTube channel(?!), click here: https://bit.ly/MPSYouTube)

It's a small milestone, and we are still a long way off from where we aspire to be.

But I'd like to document and share this journey with you so you may glean some lessons from the experience, too.

You will have fears, and it's ok...

It may be starting a new YouTube channel, a new business, or even a new career, there will be times when you are fearful, uncertain, and second-guessing yourself... and it's ok!

I've been through this before. Having started various initiatives in my previous company, including a new media platform and the first-and-only regional Awards that recognises the best in financial advisory across companies and markets.

Yet, even then, some days, I have the strongest conviction and clearest vision, and the other days....... Well, not as much...

Embrace them all. Know that it's part of the process, and keep going!

You will suck, and that's ok, too...

If you are doing anything new, you WILL suck at first. Over time, you will suck a little less. And, hopefully, we actually become good at it.

I still remember the very first article I wrote as a journalist. The edits in red were so full that the editor would have saved more time writing the article on her own.

I also remember my very first video interview! My first time in front of a camera, and I interviewed Chris Wei ! It turned out ok, largely because of how experienced and good Chris was!

The first article, first video interview, or the first whatever that you will be doing, is the first step towards your destination. It's ok to suck at first, but it is your responsibility to keep reflecting, fine-tuning, and improving.

You can't do it alone...

You can't do it alone. In my previous company, I had the privilege to lead a wonderful team.

As I continue to build Money Playschool, I'm thankful for the confidence and support of Dato' Wayne Chen Zaoxiang and Siau Kua Pok , and help from various colleagues, especially Alina Wong .

I'm also grateful to Joanna Leng and Amos Sim for being Money Playschool's first video interviewees.
