There are 5 common mistakes that most people when doing cold email to generate leads for their B2B business.
[WHAT YOU ARE SAYING IN THE EMAILS]
When it comes to cold email scripts, the biggest problem is that you are sending a generic message almost word-for-word copied from a YouTube video or cold email course.
Same framework. Same words. Same offer. Same CTA. Same EVERYTHING.
This is what you most likely did:
You went to YouTube and searched up “top cold email scripts”. You’ll watch a video with thousands of views, and literally copy the script word for word to match your offer.
You’ll start sending emails, and wonder why absolutely nobody is responding to you.
Does it not occur to you that the only reason why the email script was good before the video was posted was because nobody was sending that message?
Once the video went out, and thousands of cold emailers started ripping it off because copying is easier than putting an ounce of creativity into the work you do, it stopped working.
This is called “fatigue” or “saturation.”
To solve this problem, stop sending the same exact message as everyone else is and differentiate yourself from all of the other emails your leads are getting bombarded by.
Way to stand out in the inbox:
Offer interesting lead magnets (USE THIS)
Test new angles that you can use to make the script more relevant to the leads
DON’T COPY THE MOST POPULAR SCRIPTS YOU SEE
You see, not hard.
[CAMPAIGN VOLUME]
Chances are that you aren’t sending enough emails.
At our agency, when we onboard a new client - we TEST angles/lead magnets with a bare minimum of 10k leads. This takes about 20 days to complete, meaning we’re sending around 2000 emails per day once we are fully ramped up.
I know of agencies that are sending 500,000 emails… a day.
If you are sending 300 emails a day, it not only takes longer to test and iterate messaging, targeting, offers, etc - you’re just slowing down the progress of signing new clients.
The good part - the cost to go from sending 300 emails to 1500 emails a day is not expensive whatsoever compared to the benefit. (around $500)
Running a campaign at 300 emails a day is literally the equivalent of spending $1 a day on ads.
Like, you’re not selling a $2k retainer service consistently with 300 emails a day/$1 a day on ads.
[DELIVERABILITY]
It doesn’t matter how good your lead list is, what insanely creative angle you used, what script you’re sending if you aren’t landing in the primary inbox.
You start landing in spam once ESP’s like Google and Outlook notice you’re sending cold emails and people start marking you as spam.

One easy way to know if your email accounts are burned is if your reply rate is REALLY low - something like 2%.
When this happens - your best bet is to just ditch the domain and replace it with a new one.
To stay out of this situation and not have to replace accounts as often:
[EXTERNAL FACTORS]
There are external factors that influence the effectiveness of your cold email campaigns.
The main ones are:
The effectiveness of your campaign will go up in relation to how optimized those 3 points are.
[RESPONSE HANDLING ]
Once a prospect responds positively to your first cold email, your goal is to get them locked in for a call asap.
I see so many people asking more qualifying questions, giving TOO much information, and just losing their chance to get them on a call.
Every single email should answer their question and redirect them onto a call. That’s it.
If they have extensive amounts of questions about processes, pricing, etc - all you have to do is get them on a call.
If they are too arrogant to get on a call - they won’t be a client anyways.
Answer quickly, and get the call locked in. That’s it.
