I was selected as the 84th #emPawa100 artist by emPawa Africa
Exactly 1 year ago today? I was selected as the 84th #emPawa100 artist by emPawa Africa ??. I had just woken up and a thought flashed through my mind “How awesome would it be if I got selected to be part of empawa100!”, I laughed it off and told myself to be realistic. A few minutes later I checked my Instagram and saw a notification I had been tagged in a post by emPawa Africa. I held my breath as I investigated further “could it really be what I had hoped for??”?
I clicked the notification and there I was on the emPawa Africa page the 84th artist to be selected!! I screamed and jumped off my bed. I was stunned, overwhelmed, overjoyed. ?
?In the months that followed these same emotions would be my constant friend: when my first ever single - Better Than Just Fine - was released, when I heard my song on radio for the first time, when my single got on 2 Apple Music Playlists. When I shot & released my first music video, when I was nominated for 2 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), Songwriter Of The Year In Africa & Best Female Artist In Inspirational Music and 1 Cafe Ngoma Award ?Soulful Artist Of The Year.
?And to think Just months before I got selected to be part of the emPwa100 I was contemplating giving up on my music dream. I wondered where I would get the money to release my music and shoot a music video, I had spent all my savings on production and I was drained and discouraged. But then emPawa Africa happened they distributed my first single and gave me the funds to shoot my first ever music video. They then marketed it and hosted it on their YouTube channel! My heart is full of immense gratitude. Thank you emPawa Africa & Mr Eazi for supporting me and making my music dreams a reality! ?
?Today I celebrate the journey of being the 84th emPawa100? artist, it truly has been a? #BetterThanJustFine year!!! ?
