I SCREWED UP

We had just gone live with our marketing campaign for our next Marketing Workshop my company puts on every two months. Little did I know the date of our workshop would fall on memorial day weekend. (I’m Canadian so give me a break)

.

I could either keep the date and fight against the amount of people telling me they wanted to come but the date didn’t work for them or I could change the date and risk all the ticket sales that had already come in. On top of that, if I pushed back the workshop a week, some of the speakers or the venue I had lined up for May 24th might not be available the following week.

.

I had to make a decision. I decided to admit I SCREWED UP!

.

I contacted my team, the venue, and each person who had purchased a ticket and told them, “I SCREWED UP!”

.

Here’s what I learned…

.

.

People tend to forgive people who ask for it.

.

People for the most part are understanding.

.

Vulnerability requires courage.

.

Admitting a failure doesn’t mean I am one.

.

.

All of us at one time or another are going to screw up. It’s just part of being human. My lesson learned is to be completely honest with everyone and to go the extra mile to make it right. I’m amazed how many times we try to cover our mistakes rather than just admit them. In a world of scandals and cover ups… maybe the only thing left that’s “irresistible” (www.IrresistibelWorkshop.com) is the ability to admit when you screw up!

.

Vulnerability is the new courage!

.

By the way, not one person asked for a refund. They will all be there on May 31st! You can too! For more on Jonathan or the workshops his team puts on visit, www.IrresistibleWorkshop.com

Yass! Thank YOU for being vulnerable and true. Way too many brands have a mask on. I’ve found that when I finally took the mask off and was courageous enough to be vulnerable and true to who I am- my Business attracted the type of community and clients I wanted to be surrounded by

I have seen many people fired for lying about screwing up. When I make mistakes I immediately make it know and normally only catch a little friendly ribbing for a couple of days.

Admitting our errors shows our commitment and shows we are only human. If we were perfect we wouldn’t need a job in the first place. I screw up constantly, but for me it’s the best way for me to learn.
