I saw a Hawk today
A great RAPTOR, swollen,
feathers honeycombed trapping air pockets, pushing back the cold folds of Gods breath
Hawk rode on the wind, floating, dipping, existing At one point, not even moving, cloud like, captured in time. Adrift and castaway on the current
I felt so jealous, envious eyes drawn, tethered spirit pulled...to be free Free! A truth we can not find or face if we do.
I saw a hawk heralding the wind, herding the breeze, beckoning the gales and gusts
Yes, Hawk was Master, trumpeter of the sky Hawk played freedom music. No song of suffering here, save that for the pigeons and peacocks, prisoners of their world
Penitentiary peanut chasers scraping, begging for a like, a comment or two Feeding on engagement energy,
Not free, not you?
Not I!
For I am Hawk, master of my sky Clear and crisp like your mother calling you in from play, strong and silent like your father at the end of a long, long day
I saw a Hawk who was free and I begged
I begged...for it to be me
I saw a Hawk today...and I WAS free

6 年I love Hawks, kites. My favorite experience was in Chicago when I was flying a kite for 40 minutes. Two red tails, predators, felt threatened or curious. Then, surrounding my kite the circled in perfect unison. And kept their distance. I wasn't sure if they were impressed with my skill of riding the stream or wanted me far far away from their nest.

You are indeed a blessed writer Steven, awesome in your imagination and perfect choice of words. I thoroughly cherish reading you and I must confess, I end up increasing my vocabulary from them. No song of suffering here, save that for the pigeons and peacocks, prisoners of their world. Beautiful, I am so glad i read this.
