I Said "Multidimensional"

Hey there,

I am assuming that if you are reading my work, you are interested in personal growth and living life on your terms – the foundation of why I created Possibility in Action?. My mission is dead simple: to empower people to remove the unnecessary, shift their identity, dismantle limiting beliefs, and strengthen their mindset to intentionally rewrite their life narrative. Enjoy today’s newsletter.

Have you been feeling it?

Noise, just noise, static, and cries to pack ourselves and our lives into a box.

It’s the frenzy of personal brand construction.

Could you have imagined that we would become a world of personal brands? Now, don’t get me wrong – I actually think it is great to step out, say, “this is me”, “this is what I stand for,” and be a role model for people. I am blessed that such a concept allowed me to reimagine my life. But let's pause for a moment and ask: Are we sacrificing our authenticity in this race to build a personal brand?

My last few weeks on social media have been truly interesting, and I feel it needs to be shared. I somehow found myself in a bizarre sociological experiment. So, I’d like you to keep this question in mind as you read further: In the quest to build a personal brand, are we sacrificing something essential – our multidimensionality?

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." – Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Risk of One-Dimensionality

You may or may not know that I recently set out towards something a bit different – and let’s just say the pushback was like a gale force wind on an exposed beach.

Personal branding, while valuable in many ways, comes with risks. The most dominant risk that has loomed large in my recent endeavors is the blurring line between the "brand" and the individual it represents.

The pressure to fit into a predefined, one-dimensional mold for the sake of audience palatability is, well, palpable. But as we mold ourselves to meet these expectations, do we inadvertently sacrifice the depth and intricacy of our true selves?

Is the pursuit of mass appeal, followership, and sales in personal branding a gradual erosion of our authenticity in exchange for validation and recognition?

Aren’t we all multidimensional?

The Multidimensional Self

Our lives are more visible than any time in history, of course, if we choose it to be. Therefore, it’s crucial to recognize that we're more than just a facade or a social media profile. We're multifaceted beings, constantly evolving and changing. Our identities are fluid, shaped by our experiences, interests, and values.

Embracing our multidimensionality means celebrating all aspects of ourselves – the light and the shadow, the successes and the failures. This concept, in my opinion, encourages us to explore and express all aspects of ourselves, whether it be in your professional life, personal relationships, hobbies, or any other dimension that makes up who you are. The question is, if you are a personal brand, do you hide these things to be sellable?

Many of you familiar with my work know I love metaphors, maybe excessive at times. That being said, imagine yourself as a magnificent stained-glass window. I am lucky to live in Italy, so I get to marvel at their beauty often.

Does one single panel dominate the window and represent the intricacy it is?

No.

So how could we, as a personal brand, be just one thing?

Remember:

Losing our authenticity means we are just at the mercy of the winds of conformity.

My Personal Case Study

Recently, I launched a rather unconventional product with a triggering title. Much of the feedback to the F*ck This project from my followers is captured in these two statements,

“You are supposed to be Possibility in Action?”.

?“You are supposed to be positive.”

It made me ponder:

First off – who said F*ck This is negative?

Second – we are not “supposed” to be anything for anyone.

Third – we are, I believe, creative and evolving by nature.

Fourth – if my life has been built on taking risks, am I valuing my authenticity by playing it safe in the success of Possibility in Action??

Fifth – I am the brand, and that “I” is multidimensional.

My whole life is built upon embracing all facets of my identity and staying true to my values across different dimensions, free from the constraints of societal norms or labels. Because when the final song is played, I want to hear Old Blue Eyes singing I Did It My Way.

How to Embrace Your Multidimensional Self

  1. Practice self-awareness: Reflect on your thoughts, feelings, and actions to understand the different aspects of yourself that show up in different situations.
  2. Embrace your unique expression: Don't be afraid to express the various facets of your being authentically, even if they seem contradictory at times.
  3. Celebrate your growth: Remember, your Multidimensional Self is constantly evolving. Embrace new experiences and perspectives as opportunities to expand your inner world.

Let’s recognize that life is change and we are life.

Thoughts to Reflect Upon:

In embracing our multidimensionality, we:

  • Reclaim our power and agency.
  • Refuse to be boxed in by others' expectations or our own self-imposed limitations.
  • Embrace the messiness of life—the uncertainty, the contradictions, the imperfections.
  • Discover a deeper sense of fulfillment and authenticity.

Challenge

I have another blog where I not only provide weekly challenges, but we meet once a month in a group one-hour Q&A. It’s a bit more raw and unfiltered but for a specific reason.

It’s said when we encounter language or stimuli that are emotionally charged or provocative, it can stimulate the brain in ways that promote neuroplasticity by,

  • capturing our attention,
  • disrupting entrenched patterns of thought,
  • eliciting strong emotional responses,
  • creating cognitive dissonance, and
  • enhancing creativity and flexibility in thinking.

Therefore, why not harness strong language used intentionally, in a safe space, as a disruptor for habitual thinking to do just that?

That’s what my new newsletter is all about. See Possibility in Action? is the lifestyle?— F*ck This is a mindset that helps you achieve it.

Join the paid version if you dare to dance on the edge of possibilities. Our challenges are starting soon with our first live guidance session in April at Noon Eastern.

Robert Pardi life is fluid, we are fluid, our identities are fluid. Excellent point and question about your new project title. Connotations are energetic perceptions which can be positive, negative or neutral...these energies can become attached to the words themselves. Had you named your new project "Ditch This" it is more palatable and less nuanced. Multidimensional we are.
