I read that one out of every 10 women risks developing thyroid related issues.

At 39, I faced this reality. My hectic lifestyle caught up with me, and my days revolved around the prescribed medication that I was taking every day.

?But I refused to let it define me?

With the support of my clinical dietician, I focused on balanced eating and embraced activities that I loved. I focused on activities that increased oxygen intake and building muscle mass. I combined Zumba, weight lifting, walks after every meal, focusing on my mental health and a balanced diet with conscious intake of protein as per the guidelines given by my dietician. Making these changes to my lifestyle was hard work initially.

While my journey is still ongoing, my stamina and energy levels have increased. Managing my thyroid issues isn't just about treatment for me, it’s about reclaiming my life. I am sharing this experience here to normalize the conversation around any health challenge. Most working professionals or homemakers are seen as lazy or lethargic when they experience fatigue or brain fog. But it’s not that you are growing old or that you are lazy.

You need to start speaking about your health and seek solutions for any recurring health problem from experts. We all have access to social media where health is discussed every day. Find out why your body is behaving as it is.

Give your body a chance to heal itself before you resign to the belief that the only way to live life is a lifetime of consuming a combination of medicines. Something as small as repeated heartburn, acidity, acid reflux, chronic backpain, fatigue, hair fall, loss of luster on your skin can be a cry for help from your body and a sign that you need to start supporting and prioritizing your body over anything else.

After all the most precious real-estate we own is our body. How did you incorporate healthy habits into your busy daily schedule? Do share your views so others may also benefit from your experiences.
