I ranked a brand in the top-3 spots of Google for the keyword "men's soap
And I did it in less than 6 months. Here's the exact SEO process I followed to make this happen:
The first thing I did was run a technical SEO audit of the site using Screaming Frog. The site was fairly clean clean: No broken links. No broken backlinks. However, there were a few pages missing meta titles, meta descriptions and H1 tags. So, I added them in.
There was also a lot of low-value blog content published that:
1. Didn't receive any organic traffic
2. Didn't have keyword opportunities to optimize for
3. Were extremely low in word count So, I unpublished the blog content and redirected the URL to a relevant page.
Next, I found that the brand already had a Collection page that was ranking for "men's soap" and other related keywords.
But not on the 1st page!
So, I better-optimized that Collection page for "men's soap" and the other related keywords.
The other related keywords I wanted to optimize the Collection page for included:
1. best men's soap
2. best bar soap for men
3. men's bar soap
4. natural soap for men
How did I optimize the Collection page for all five keywords?
I updated the page's meta title so that each keyword was present in it.
I then chose one of the keywords to include in the page's H1 tag, meta description and URL slug.
And then I added around 500 words of content to the page that was optimized for all five keywords.
After that, I started publishing blog content.

And not just any blog content. Blog content that was relevant to the soap they sold.
I wrote about the benefits of natural soap.
I wrote about what natural soap was made of. I wrote a comparison between soap and body wash.
And I added internal links from each blog post that pointed to the "men's soap" Collection pages.
The content was super in-depth and well-optimized for target keywords, so it ranked very well and began driving around $1,000/month in sales alone (so far)!
Lastly, I built a lot of backlinks.
I built backlinks to the "men's soap" Collection page and the blog content I published.
I focused on getting links from sites that:
1. Where in the health/wellness space
2. Had stable or increasing organic traffic
3. Had a DR/DA over 30
That's all there was to it! In less than 6 months, I moved the keyword from position
#12 to position #3.
This page is printing money now. And will be a source of ad-free revenue for a long, long time.
