I quit the numbers game

Here's my confession: I have a love-hate relationship with #linkedin for the past 20 months or so. Many times I wanted to give up.
I count this as the "official" time when I started to invest my #time to be #active on this platform; striving to produce good quality and meaningful posts (by my definition) and engage thoughtfully with others consistently, working quite hard to build a #personalbrand by putting myself out there shamelessly.
There have been wonderful moments of #connections and #engagements, meeting interesting and willing collaborators as well as like-minded individuals who are on the same journey of wanting to be the #light in the world.
I had a recent conversation with an expert on #Linkedin who affirmed me that my personal branding is strong. Yay ???? However, the challenge is I have low #visibility and consequently my reach is limited ??. I agree with that analysis.
To be #honest, I have been spending a significant time trying to identify patterns and cracking the code of writing posts that will be more successful and well-received.
Would I like to have viral posts? Of course! I think that will be a great boost to the ego ?? ????!
On a more serious note, I would love for that to happen ONLY because I like to have more people #understand and help me to #shift certain #narratives around #relationship, #seekinghelp, #cyclebreaking, having a #flourishing life, #parenting and #mentalhealthawareness. #Awareness and strong #support are critical when one's #mission is to a #changeagent.
Whether I like it or not, doing well on #linkedin is fundamentally a numbers game. In spite of my consistent effort, the #growth of my followers remain small. Most of my followers may not be comfortable to "like" or engage in my posts. For posts to trend, lots of people need to be engaging on them so I am not surprise that I have not succeeded given that my base is small and they are not particularly "noisy". So even though I can write a similar content with someone who has a huge following, I won't get the same outcome. This is the #harsh reality of life.
Recently, I revisit my intention in being in this community and I accept that this is merely another platform for me to share my #knowledge, #expertise and lessons in life. I have had a rich life filled with adversities and interesting challenges, and I like to be able to encourage and support others who desire to pursue the relationship of their dream and living a #flourishinglife.

As I focus on my #intention and #purpose, it no longer matters as much how well my posts perform because those who are meant to receive the message will somehow get to read it. My job is continue to write good quality content, and not to worry or control the #outcome of my posts. That will be too #stressful and it will rob me of my #joy in #writing and #sharing.
This insight affords me #freedom and #clarity that I need to continue this journey. I hope it will also encourage you, if you're in the same boat as me. Keep your eyes on the prize and #persevere!
One of my joys in creating content is to have others engage and exchange ideas with me and in that way, we #learn and #grow together. Your support, engagements and comments mean a lot to me and to those who have taken the time to do so frequently, I like to thank you from the bottom of my heart ???? ??

1 年Your engagement and contribution mean a lot. That’s how I got to know you, and it has helped us maintain a positive relationship of support! I’m still unsure about how the algorithm works and which posts are visible to the public. You published this post a week ago, but I’ve only just seen it now. Thank you for sharing your insights and reflections. ??

1 年This post hit the nail on the head about intentions leading to clarity and freedom. I was talking to someone about one of my volunteer work and shared my experience at first when I was surprised that I didn’t receive more gratitude from the recipients. It made me examine my intention for volunteering and when I realised it’s not about the recipients’ gratitude but that my true intention is to help, I gained clarity and freedom in continuing what I do with no expectation in return. It made me feel more fulfilled. Thank you for helping me articulate this thought process.

1 年Thanks for sharing, Winifred Ling ???? (MCoun, GDAPP) ! Your thoughts are always encouraging! A person who struggles and overcomes the challenges learns a lot more than the person who did not. Thank you for being authentic, Winifred Ling ???? (MCoun, GDAPP) ! Sometimes, I wonder too, if it is worth the effort. ?????? Haha. But I think it is about balance.
