I Quit My CTO Role—Now It’s Time to Build Without Limits
Andy Aragón
?? Fractional CTO | Software Engineering & DevOps Consultant | Podcaster | Streamer | Cloud & Agile Expert | MIT | Bilingual (EN/ES)
For the past two years, I’ve been leading the Product and Technology teams at Traxi, a subsidiary of Traxión, Mexico’s largest logistics and transportation group. My mission was to digitally transform the staff and school transportation industry, making operations smarter, more efficient, and tech-driven. We built platforms for monitoring, route reconciliation, invoice auditing, access control, and even developed an AI-powered route audit system. It was an intense, rewarding journey where I had the privilege of working with incredibly talented people who are shaping the future of mobility in Mexico. I’m proud of what we accomplished together.
But lately, I’ve felt a growing urge to take a different path—one where I build something of my own, take bigger risks, and pursue a vision without constraints. That itch has now outgrown my reasons to stay.
Building My Next Chapter
I’m starting a new venture under my consulting firm, Isotopo. It will be a platform for developing and scaling software products—some for clients, some for myself. I don’t have a fixed roadmap yet, but I know the kind of work that excites me: deep tech, AI, logistics optimization, and product-led growth strategies. I already have some early traction with consulting projects and software prototypes. But this is not about playing it safe—it’s about going all-in on a vision.
Unlike my previous transitions, this one feels different. I’m not just changing jobs; I’m shifting my entire approach to work and life. I want to create with total freedom, without the guardrails of corporate structure. I’m giving myself three years to become fully self-sustained through my own products and initiatives. If I succeed, I’ll have built something meaningful and lasting. If I fail, I’ll still have gained invaluable experience. Either way, I win.
The Growth Strategy
Where do I go from here? My focus is on growth—but not just financial growth. For now, I’m more interested in optimizing for learning, creativity, and momentum. Money, I believe, will be a byproduct of disciplined execution. My approach is inspired by my background in startups, trading, and technology strategy.
I see my time as an investment, and I want to allocate it strategically. These are my key areas of focus:
Staying Healthy
This is non-negotiable. Managing my energy, both physical and mental, is critical for sustainable success. I’m prioritizing sleep, exercise, healthy eating, and structured downtime. After years of balancing high-pressure work with personal challenges, I know that burnout is the enemy of creativity.
Learning & Mastery
I’m a lifelong learner. Whether it’s deepening my knowledge of machine learning, DevOps, or applied mathematics, I’ll be dedicating time to structured learning.
Building Software Products
This is my main play. I’ll be working on software that solves real problems—either for clients or as standalone products. I have ideas ranging from AI-driven logistics optimization to developer tools, but I’ll be ruthless in killing ideas that don’t gain traction. Execution beats perfection.

Writing & Storytelling
I’m picking up writing again—not just for self-reflection but as a way to connect with others. Documenting my journey will help me stay accountable while sharing lessons with people on similar paths. I don’t care about virality or metrics; I just want to write honestly about technology, entrepreneurship, and personal growth.
Sharing Knowledge
Some of my most fulfilling moments have come from mentoring engineers, coaching teams, and helping people navigate their careers. I plan to continue sharing what I learn—through blog posts, talks, and maybe even courses. If I can help someone avoid mistakes I’ve made, it’s a win.
Networking & Community
I’ve spent years building relationships in tech, and now I want to strengthen those connections. While I’m not naturally drawn to networking for its own sake, I see the immense value in surrounding myself with smart, ambitious people. Whether through online communities, conferences, or local meetups, I want to actively engage in discussions that push my thinking forward.
Marketing & Growth Hacking
Great products don’t sell themselves. I’ve learned that distribution is just as important as building. So I’ll be experimenting with marketing strategies—content, SEO, partnerships, and word-of-mouth—to get my work in front of the right people.
Podcasting & Streaming
I’ll also be working on my podcast, sharing insights on technology, entrepreneurship, and personal growth. In addition, I’m launching a streaming presence on YouTube and Twitch to engage with a broader audience, discuss industry trends, and connect with like-minded individuals in real-time. This will not only help build a community but also push my storytelling and communication skills further.
These focus areas aren’t set in stone. I’ll iterate as I go, shifting time allocation based on results. But the principle remains the same: disciplined execution over long periods compounds into extraordinary results.
What’s Next
The next few weeks will be about recalibrating. I’m taking a short break to recharge and reflect. Then, I’ll start executing my plans under Isotopo. There’s a backlog of ideas I want to prototype, a few promising consulting opportunities, and some open-source contributions I’d love to make.
One thing is certain—I’m not stepping away from technology or innovation. If anything, I’m doubling down. The difference is that now I’m building on my own terms.
I’ll be sharing my progress here, along with lessons learned along the way. If you’re on a similar path, let’s connect. The best journeys are the ones shared with like-minded people.
Here’s to the next chapter.

2 周Siempre trae cosas positivas reinventarse y moverse.
