Assembling a leadership team is one of the most important tasks a business owner or entrepreneur can undertake.?The people you appoint as leaders will become representatives of you and your vision, they have a direct impact on your ability to reach your goals.

They should continually strive to be at the forefront of their profession.?In doing so, they can advise you how to bring your business to the forefront of your industry.

Leaders who fully embrace personal and professional growth leave no room for stagnant energy and ‘old school’ ways of thinking. They understand that building something of value is a process that does not stop, they can anticipate the changing needs of your customers’ and advise you what is required to adapt.

When the people and processes in each department are optimised by strong leadership, your business will naturally evolve.

Some ways to gauge a candidate’s capacity for evolution are to ask questions such as:

How do you embrace change and how would you lead a team through change?

Can you provide examples of your initiatives in past roles?

What do you do to stay at the forefront of the industry?

Are you confident to voice your professional opinions and advise the wider group?

These questions are especially important in progressive industries such as tech, given the pace of change. The industry’s current challenge is managing the shift to the subscription-based model.

If you’re a business owner within the tech channel industry and your leadership team aren’t proactively seeking solutions to manage this shift, they are missing the fundamental quality of embracing change. You may need to reassess their motives.
