I never knew about Rheumatoid Arthritis ... until

I had a really interesting afternoon when I hosted the inaugural episode in The AbbVie Discovery Series. The mission of the series is to explore "what it takes to transform an initial scientific breakthrough into a medicine that has the potential to change lives" and to "shine a light on those individuals who have dedicated their lives to solving complex health problems and pay homage to the remarkable impact of their work."

Our first episode explored the evolution of treatment and care for arthritis. I sat down with Rheumatoligists, an Immunology Clinician, the general manager of AbbVie Australia / New Zealand, a representative of Arthritis Australia and an amazing woman who has lived all her life with rheumatoid arthritis to unpack the story of a disease which has been known to mankind for thousands of years, yet which has seen a transformation in our approach in recent times.

I, thankfully, have had limited exposure to RA, but the discussion was fascinating and the direction of the science compelling. A long way to go but we have come so far.
