I Never (Ever) Need Any Help

Maybe you really can lift that car all by yourself, solve any problem, and summon the right answer at any time.
Nah.
People who never ask for help are sending a message that almost certainly is not the one they intend to convey.
They are telling the world: I think the world of my own abilities, and not much of yours.
Even worse, they spend every day missing opportunities to learn and grow. When the people around you step up to support you and your vision, you benefit, and they do as well.
This is especially true for leaders, because when you ask for help, you are modeling the behavior you wish to engender in others: that if they need help, they admit it, so that you all can learn quickly and move forward.
You probably know someone who never asks for help. The odds are pretty good that s/he is intelligent and reasonably skilled. They may even be in a position of power; many CEOs behave in this manner. But the inability to learn from others is a significant missed opportunity.

I get it. You are resourceful, capable, and tenacious. Left to your own devices, you probably could figure out how to move forward successfully on your own. But that’s not necessarily the best approach, for the reasons I’ve shared today. Sometimes the best reason to ask for help isn’t because you need it.
The best reason is that in doing so, you trigger a series of highly positive events and interactions.
