Today as I was driving to Kentucky for a long writing weekend with my girlfriends, I was listening to country music on Pandora.

Now I grew up listening to country music and I know the words to just about every song by Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Dolly Parton and more.

So I was singing along at the top of my lungs barreling down highway 71 south when a haunting duet by Emmylou Harris and Don Williams came on.

It’s called, “if I needed you”…

If I needed you, would you come to me?

Would you come to me for to ease my pain?

If you needed me, I would come to you

I would swim the sea for to ease your pain

I’ve always loved this song. And as I listened today it gave me chills.

The lyrics made me think of the Mentoress Collective and how we have been there for each other - especially during the past few years of the pandemic.
