I NEED YOUR HELP!
As most of you know, I founded thebestofbury over 12 years ago and Made in Bury Ltd 6 years ago and love working with SME’s in my home town of Bury.
Over the last few years I have found myself spending more and more of my time helping new start up businesses.
Did you know that the most critical time for a new start up is the first 12-18 months and over 60% of them fail during this time!
So a few years ago Phil and I decided to challenge this statistic here in Bury and formed a Business Academy to help new start ups. The Academy works with new start ups two mornings a month for 12 months delivering 18 bespoke modules created by Phil and I from our experiences in the corporate world and from running 2 successful businesses of our own.
This is a funded programme supported by Bury Council and thebestofbury and in the last couple of years we have helped over 60 new start ups.
We work closely with them focusing on Coaching, Mentoring (with the help of a number of other fantastic local business owners in our network) and are now looking to offer Interest Free Loans.
Studies and research shows that the 3 most important things a new start up business needs are:
- Coaching & mentoring
- A support network of likeminded people.
- Access to funding.
New start ups unfortunately don’t have a lot of money so our Academy is free (they contribute a nominal fee to cover the cost of food & drink provided).
So let me cut to the chase: In May of this year, we launched ‘The Made in Bury Business Draw’ which is a not for profit initiative which will help more businesses through the Academy and will help fund Interest Free Loans. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for someone to win ￡2000 in the weekly draw and the cost of a ticket is only ￡2 per week. There are only 2400 tickets available in total, so the odds of winning are high.
After only 5 months, we have sold 1000 tickets and have paid out ￡46,000 in prize money.
So this is where I need your help, we need to get to 2000 ticket sales to create the relevant funds to support the Academy and the Interest Free Loans.
If we reach 2000 ticket sales by the end of November, as a little bonus to all involved, the draw on the 19th December (Christmas week) will be for a whopping ￡5000!
