I might have saved my own life, actually, I have.

I might have saved my own life, actually, I have.

Maybe not quite LinkedIn stuff, but these things were affecting my work productivity and endurance. So here it goes...in hopes of encouraging to take charge of your health if you’re not on that path now.

Just wrapped up my annual full physical and even a cardiologist follow-up visit (and echocardiogram).

I was really on a path to certain early death. I fully believe that. The weight loss of literally 102 pounds since summer of 2021, the exercising and a far better and healthier relationship with food…well, here is what it's accomplished:

Diabetes – COMPLELTEY REVERSED: this causes a myriad of health issues, serious physical problems and early death. I have completely reversed diabetes. I was taking five (5) risky medications to control this. Horrible. Today, for those that know what an A1C reading is (and you well should know what yours is) mine is now 5.3 –and I am absolutely non-diabetic -(goodbye ALL medications....see ya!)

Sleep apnea – COMPLETELY REVERSED: this causes High blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, Metabolic syndrome, complications with medications and surgery, liver problems and contributes to early death –and the loud snoring too -(goodbye C-PAP machine).

High cholesterol – COMPLETELY REVERSED: this causes Chronic kidney disease, diabetes, Hypothyroidism, lupus, and increases your chance of getting heart disease, stroke, heart attacks and early death. Total cholesterol now 111 from 234 - (goodbye all medications!)

High Blood Pressure: COMPLETELY REVERSED: this causes heart disease, heart attacks, strokes, heart failure, peripheral arterial disease, aortic aneurysm, kidney disease, vascular dementia. My blood pressure yesterday was 116/74 -(goodbye the threat from the doctor of going on blood pressure medication)

Weight Loss: went from a size 46 pant size and now 36 size pants are loose. Shirts were a 4XL and now a comfortable XL. Donated 2 closet full of clothes, jackets, blazers, pants and even my shoes are now loose.

Physical Limitations: REVERSED: last year I was out of breath climbing a flight of stairs. This year I climbed a brutal trail up Mt. Washington, New Hampshire to 6,288 feet -(thinking about my next physical adventure!)

I completed my physical examination and cardiologist (yesterday, 10-26-2022) medical check-ups and now:

-> ZERO medications

-> ZERO health issues (at age 60-years old)

I’ll take it, and I’ll worship the results and protect and improve all of these past conditions I’ve noted.

Recommendations:

1. MOST IMPORTANT – See your doctor at least once a year for a complete physical and FULL blood work. Research health conditions and ASK your doctor questions. In many cases, you'll discover things they might not be aware of or bring to light medical concerns you have that are not being addressed (I had to ask to see a cardiologist and a sleep apnea doctor, for example)

2. KNOW your blood work numbers by heart and work to make them better on each consecutive blood work test

3. Stop the sugar (cancer loves sugar), stop the soda, the pizza, the cookies and sweets and stop the alcohol consumption. Stop the nighttime eating. Buy organic foods when possible.

4. Exercise – I love walking. The gym and maintaining muscle mass is critical as is stretching, staying flexible and reducing inflammation. I started hot yoga and holy cow, very tough, but you’ll start to feel great over time.

5. Reduce your stress and manage it better. We all have stress.

6. Live a happy and optimistic life. Smile when you wake up every morning; you are alive another day!

Do whatever it takes to get your health back. It is never too late.

I know you want to live a long and productive life.
