The Liv Morgan Revenge Tour has become one of WWE’s most captivating storylines since the Bloodline saga, which was no small accomplishment. Considering the widespread engagement with Roman Reigns — the former Undisputed Universal Champion — alongside his family, The Usos and Solo Sikoa, his wiseman Paul Heyman, and the slew of wrestlers he defeated over three years, it seemed almost impossible for WWE writers to create another equally, if not more, entertaining narrative.
Liv Morgan spent more than half of 2023 recovering from an injury sustained at the hands of Rhea Ripley, also known as the Eradicator. When she returned at the 2024 Royal Rumble, Morgan made it clear that she was back with a vengeance. Determined to seek payback for the pain and lost time caused by Ripley, Morgan vowed to achieve her goal by any means necessary. So far, she has done exactly what she promised.
During an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Morgan shared how she spent her the time away from the ring to focus on how to make herself a more important star for WWE:
I really used that time off to focus on what I wanted, what I wanted to do, and what I wanted my career to look like…I feel different. I’m no longer just happy to be here. I know I belong. I channeled that for the six months I was out. I focused on what I wanted my revenge to look like, and I have executed every step of the way. Before, I thought it was going to be my time–but it wasn’t. I believe in divine timing and I trust the universe. Coming out of the injury on the other side, this is how and when it is supposed to be. This is how my revenge and redemption were intended to take place.
Revenge and Redemption. Upon her return, Morgan set her sights on Ripley. However, Ripley, also known as Mami, focused on two other opponents: Nia Jax and Becky Lynch. In my opinion, this was one of Ripley’s biggest mistakes, as it diverted her attention from the one person she initially took out. While Nia is an opponent you never want to take your eyes off and Becky is someone you never want to turn your back on, Liv is the one who truly had something to prove. She spent her time at home watching her colleagues fight for title opportunities, travel the world, meet fans, and do what they love — wrestle. Ripley took all of that away from her, leaving Morgan with nothing but time to plan her comeback and reclaim everything she lost, and more.

Morgan has always been the underdog in this narrative. When she clinched her first singles championship, the SmackDown Women’s Championship in 2022 by defeating Ronda Rousey, the reception was lukewarm. This wasn’t due to any shortcomings on Morgan’s part, but rather because of the established stature of her opponent. Holding the title for 97 days, Morgan defended it fiercely against all challengers until she ultimately lost it back to Rousey in October 2022.
As I write this, it has been two years since Morgan’s initial championship victory. Reflecting on her journey, Morgan confided to Barrasso that becoming a champion was always a “hope and dream” for her. Stepping away from the ring to recover proved instrumental in boosting her self-esteem and reigniting her passion for wrestling.
This is something I created–that I didn’t feel always had a lot of support behind it–but I stuck it out because I really believed in it. I believed in myself. And when I got this opportunity, because of the time and attention to my craft, I ran with it. It’s been 10 years to get here, and we haven’t even scratched the surface yet. This is what I always hoped and dreamed for–and that’s why the time off when I was injured was so significant. It was important for my self-esteem and to re-fall in love with wrestling to come back in my best form. I’m just entering my prime. If you don’t believe me, just watch.
I agree with Morgan completely. I believe she’s now hitting her stride, having decisively dealt with Rhea Ripley and ultimately caused her to vacate her belt. She singlehandedly captured the championship by defeating Becky Lynch, not just once but twice — although some argue she had assistance in the second match. She also played a pivotal role in The Judgement Day, Finn Bálor, and JD McDonagh winning the World Tag Team Championship against Awesome Truth (R-Truth and The Miz). Moreover, Morgan has provided Dirty Dominik Mysterio with all the love, attention, and care that Ripley could never match. Morgan has, dare I say it, become a better “Mami” than Ripley herself.
This revenge tour has delivered everything we crave for with a compelling and satisfying storyline: entertainment, comedic relief, drama, and a cohesive wrestling narrative. This redemption tale revolves around a woman who lost it all and was determined to reclaim everything while exacting retribution on the person who caused her so much pain.
Liv Morgan has ascended to the pinnacle of the women’s division on Raw, holding the top title and enjoying a loving relationship with Dominik. She’s earned the respect of The Judgement Day (excluding Damien Priest) and has cleared away her competition. Liv is finally on top… until Ripley makes her return.
