1. About the capacity: The computing capacity of the computer is 1024KB = 1MB, 1024MB = 1GB. In actual production, 1000KB = 1MB, 1000MB = 1GB, the bad blocks in the chip will be shielded during production and the production program itself will take up space, so the actual capacity of the finished usb drive is as follows :
4GB ≈ (3.74GB-3.8GB)
8GB ≈ (7.48GB-7.5GB)
16GB ≈ (14.8 GB-15GB)
32GB ≈ (28.5GB-30GB)
64GB ≈ (58.5GB-60GB)
128GB ≈ (110.5GB-120GB)
2. About the format of the usb chips, the chip factory set it as follows:
Capacity below 2GB: FAT
Capacity 4GB-32GB: FAT32
Capacity 64gb: EXFAT
If the customer needs NTFS format for usb chips or hard disks, they need to be told that the Mac system doesn’t support NTFS format, so you cannot add any files into product. Or the client needs to change the format to FAT / FAT32 / EXFAT
For ordinary data, the FAT, FAT32 format doesn’t support making single file larger than 4GB, while the EXFAT and NTFS format can support making single files larger than 4GB.
If you use usb drive with full file insert on Mac apple computer, and the usb drive can’t be recognized, this is not belong to quality problem. You can try to delete some files, because when reading external storage files, the OS system need to write some OS auxiliary files into usb chips, so you must make sure the usb chips have free capacity, can’t be full.
The last reminding, If the customer changes the usb flash drive to do some special copies of data or installing other applications to change the function of the chip, if there is any problem occurs, this is not belong to quality problem of chip, it isn’t a correct use habit. Because some customers also feedback these issues before, no matter if the customer needs to use USB for special data or functions, they must use tools provided by the chip factory, because each batch of chips has different tools to match and modify chip functions, and you cannot do this by yourself with mismatched tools.
The above instruction of the USB chips could help you to avoid any possible problems.
