"I love that Showpo is such a vibrant place": We take five with DC Administrator George Aukusitino

If you work at Showpo in Sydney, you probably know George. Based at our distribution centre, George is a multitasking administrator, a great mate to his colleagues and a show-stealer in one of Jane’s recent TikToks (read on for more goss).?

After more than three years at the DC, he’s also busy developing new forms of mental health support for staff there. We chat to George about his day-to-day hustle, the future he sees for DC and why he loves the vibes at Showpo.

Tell us about your role as a DC Administrator. What does it involve day to day?

Being a DC Administrator is a great role in my perspective, I really enjoy being in this job.

In a nutshell, my day-to-day tasks consist of but are not limited to organising rostering and timesheets, generating orders for our picking and dispatching systems, data entry and reporting around our daily KPIs and orders that have missed delivery cut-off times, onboarding and offboarding staff and liaising with multiple teams across the whole company.

What do you love the most about your role and also working at DC?

The thing I love the most is talking to people and getting to know the team and networking with everyone. My main purpose for me personally here has been to help people and to improve mental health at the workplace. I love that Showpo is such a vibrant place.

What excites you about the future of DC?

My main goal when I first came to Showpo was to improve the mental health support system, so I am so excited to implement a new support system to help all staff across DC.

At the moment our mental health support system is basically, go to the team leaders or go to your managers or go to P&C. These are definitely great avenues to take when going through a mental health obstacle within the workplace. However I would love to help improve it in a few ways, for instance by creating an anonymous survey every month to check up on how the teams are going, bonding sessions to help make the team bond stronger, monthly toolboxes on specific topics regarding mental health, and more contact places within the workplaces. There are definitely more ideas, they will come through soon!

Everyday is quite exciting for myself, I like to have fun anywhere I go so I make sure I have fun while I'm getting my work done. Trust me, anyone who has met me in person will know that I LOVE to have fun haha.

What’s something most people wouldn’t know or expect about your job?

I think that a lot of people don't actually know how much work is done by admin staff here at Showpo! I have fun and that probably makes people think that I don't work but I'm sure everyone across Showpo could vouch for me ??

What’s your favourite memory from your time at Showpo so far?

My favourite memory at Showpo would definitely have to be all the fun events Showpo has had. Showpo is definitely at the top of my list when it comes to culture. I get to meet new people and speak to new people and also learn how everyone communicates, which helps me build my strength in communicating.

You were a hit in Jane’s recent TikTok filmed at DC! How did this TikTok happen and will you be leaving Showpo to become a professional dancer?

LOL one day I was walking through inventory at the warehouse and Jane looked at me and said "George, you have such an amazing glow, would you be in my TikTok for fun?" and I was like "yeah for sure let's do it”, and the rest is history! I was considering it but Showpo is just too good to leave right now hahaha

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

I think that DC is so vibrant, I love that I can be myself and have a positive impact on the environment. I encourage anyone and everyone to live life and be happy, make the most of what they have and do their best at what they're doing ??
