I Love my Credit Union!

Happy #ILoveMyCreditUnion day! As I reflect on my credit union career, I think of the many experiences I have had around the world and across Montana because of credit unions. When I was in college, I joined the Yellowstone FCU when I worked in the park, which was my first experience with a credit union. It was amazing! Then, when I lived in Thailand in the early 1990s, I joined a credit union in Ohio, which served international workers. When we moved from Yellowstone to Georgia and then Wisconsin with CUNA Mutual, we joined Summit Credit Union. When we moved back to Montana many years ago, we joined Sky FCU, and we love the local touch and amazing service. Like many of you, we are members of several credit unions — all of which live the cooperative principles daily and embody the #cudifference!

Credit unions have changed my life! Most of us do not grow up wanting to work in a credit union. However, once we get “in,” something grabs hold of our hearts and doesn’t let go. Then BAM! — it’s 30 years later, and we are living our best lives, knowing we are improving the financial lives of so many in our communities. Regardless of location: a Masai village in Tanzania, the jungles of Northern Thailand, the big city of Atlanta, “credit union central” of Madison, farming communities in eastern Montana, or employees in Yellowstone National Park, credit unions are there serving their members and communities.

?I am beyond humbled and proud to see credit unions' powerful impact across our state, touching the lives of Montanans! As you reflect on your credit union career — whether it’s been over 30 years or not quite 30 days — how are you living the #CUDifference? How is your life better because of credit unions?
