I love to ask...

I love to ask...

I’ll ask people for anything. Their time, their expertise & their money...

I always ask people for advice. Because I’m not an expert at so many things.

I especially love asking for donations… Because this enables people to be generous & people experience the joy of giving.

In fact, the charity sector doesn’t exist without people having the ability to ask. Because charity is about change & so many people want to change lives & change the world. Asking is wonderful… because you give people the opportunity to be part of the change… and you facilitate this when you ask.

When I ask for Starlight, it’s to brighten the lives of seriously ill children & young people.

When I ask for Stanford Australia Foundation, it’s to foster continuous learning & to help our sector to scale.?

When I ask as part of my board role with Community Council of Australia, I’m asking other charities to join as members to help us build?flourishing?communities by enhancing the extraordinary work of charities.?

I love to see the joy people experience when I share the impact their generous donation has made. And sharing this impact requires all of us to be great storytellers.

Volunteers, ambassadors & fundraisers love to ask. They get it.

Giving is as beneficial for the giver as it is for the recipient.

So why wouldn’t we ask? Why wouldn’t we share amazing stories of how charity creates change.

And today’s ask? It’s the end of the financial year. Why don’t you make the largest gift you can to a charity close to your heart. We all need to work together to grow philanthropy, grow charity & grow the change we all make.

I often find myself in a "thank you loop". I reach out to thank our incredible donors for their gift and the impact they are making and they come back with a "No, thank you for the opportunity to support such a wonderful cause." ?

Beautifully said Louise Baxter. In my experience, the flip side is that most people also love to be asked! There are really so many people who genuinely want to help with their time, expertise and money and they like to be asked so they know how and where and when to help
