I Lived
One Republic bringing you the title this week! I did in fact "live" or survive I should suggest through that horrendous weather at the weekend. If you'd read last weeks weeknote, you'd have seen I was venturing off to the Emerald Isle for my birthday weekend. It wasn't meant to be. I wasn't super keen on a propeller plane in the first place, but imagine flying in that!!! Thankfully, Aer Lingus were on top of things and cancelled flights as and when they could. Unfortunately, the alternative flight just didn't suit so we cancelled all together and ended up taking a drive to Inveraray instead. Which was lovely - have you even been to Inveraray if you don't take this picture?!
What's been good this week?
I feel this week has been a positive one - we've had some lovely open and collaborative working. We've been researching and reaching out to local and regional organisations to develop partnerships with for a particular branch of funding. We already work alongside these organisations, however, we're formalising things and developing our existing connections to better the support that we already offer. It'll be an exciting thing to be a part of and I'm excited to get along to meetings and speak to people. I don't often get the opportunity to do so, so I'm jumping at the chance!!
On a personal level, I submitted my final assessment for the Digital Marketing course with West College Scotland. I felt a sense of relief, but got the dreaded email stating I'd not submitted enough information! Last hurdle to overcome then it's onto the next. I've enrolled myself in ANOTHER course. You'd think I'd have had enough, but it seems the learning bug has caught me again. I always thought that I'd have been a front-line kind of worker for my career, as I enjoy helping people. However, I've found that since taking on a comms role I still get that fuzzy feeling - I get to share stories, some successes, some not so great, but I still get to help. I get to apply for funding that is sometimes successful and goes towards supporting the most vulnerable in our society. It's maybe not direct, but it's still helping.
What's not been so good this week?
Well, we thought we'd hit the jackpot and didn't receive any storm damage, but today we had an email from a passer-by stating they'd found our sign. About 200m from our premises...and stuck in between some railings. Amanda, Training Academy Manager said "the discovery blew me away" - she's here all week.
We obviously didn't get to Ireland, which I'm sad about. We did have a lovely break and managed to get some amazing scran at The George Hotel (iykyk). Always looking for the positive. (@foodieblueshoes for all your reviewing needs ??)
What's on next week?
Meetings! Meetings galore. Amanda and I are off out and about next week to solidify our partnership working - hopefully they're fruitful visits.
I always sign off on whatever song is on the speaker, today it really does NOT fit the bill but it's Caribbean Queen. I mean, I'd quite like to be in the Caribbean, so it's maybe not THAT farfetched. Tomorrow she is off for a well earned massage (or because the pain in the shoulder has got to the point it's annoying), either or I'm planning a relaxing weekend. Going to the football on Saturday with my sister & nieces (not the team I usually would visit...) but a game of footballs a game of football! And I get to spend some time with family, which is always nice.
Have a good weekend folks!
