Accreditation giving you nightmares?

I know why you’re terrified of accreditation

?You’re stressed out. Mountains of papers surround your desk. You’re working late, again. But the Quality and Safety Commission? They’re coming. Soon. And you’re terrified of passing accreditation.

The top five reasons providers are tying themselves in knots over the Commission coming

1.?????Quality Improvement Plan Aka Continuous Quality Plan Aka Continuous Quality Improvement Plan. When was the last time you looked at it? Come to think of it, where is it? What do I write? Do I remove the entries from 2019? You don’t know where to start and where to end with it and it’s keeping you up at night.

?2.?????Unhappy consumers. The Commission wants to see your complaints and you just know they want to speak to those consumers who have complained. What will the consumer say about us? What will happen then? Have we handled it right from the start? You are concerned about what will be said about your business without you in the room and trying to make your consumers happy. Well, it’s got your wheels spinning.

?3.?????Dignity of Risk. Your consumers want to swing from the chandeliers while naked and full of rum. Ok, maybe not quite. But what about the choices they’re making that are dangerous or risky. ?At what point do you step in and ask them politely to get down and put their robe back on? What does good dignity of risk look like, and have you documented it correctly? Now try to not let that image interrupt your dreams.

?4.?????Care plans. Your nurses have done a great job on your care plans from a set of thorough assessments undertaken with your consumers and your care plans are detailed and comprehensive covering all the necessary stipulations. Right?

?5.?????Governance. You know governance is the framework that informs your business what to do and how and when. Your policies and procedures are detailed and personalised like your care plans, and you have no fear that they are too short or overly verbose or that your staff can safely follow them. Now think about who is next due for a covid booster and who’s police check is about to expire. If you answered not sure and ask reception, you’re in a pickle.

?Looming accreditation is scary, so let me not remind you that you must be in fact accreditation ready for unannounced visits too! Do you feel seen? If you’re left with any doubt that your business is not ready for the commission to walk through your door tomorrow, call us today!
