I Know Who You Are
Almost everyone I write about is someone you, the reader, have not met. As much as I describe my sister; no one has met her. She has an active social life and her children have more extracurricular activities than high school students. They are at Disneyworld now which means these small children have now visited more Disney parks than I have.
If you want "The Happiest Place on Earth"? No Longer Virtual is next month. The subject of my four thousandth article will be there. Yes, I have tentative ideas for an article that won't be written until June 2024. For a tribute to someone- how much do I really know about this person?
What I have witnessed and what has been described. There are many stories from my life that have never been mentioned. My father was surprised that I visited Austin, Texas. Why not? It's a state capital with a really good music scene.
Lamentably I mostly recall that trip because the airline misplaced my bag PHX-AUS and AUS-PHX. I have not checked a bag since. Most of the people I describe are not known by others.
That means I have to bring them to life. Not in the Dr. Frankenstein sense. Describe them in a way that makes them sound real and interesting. A colleague who is rarely at work and has not retired for health reasons (nor passed away. That news would not be surprising) has described people he knew in school, the military, in Colorado and on the police force I have not met.
If I were to meet his parents I would know a lot about them based on his descriptions and discussions through the night. One must remain engaged on a tedious job with strange hours.
No one from previous positions knew anyone I worked with. No one has any ideas most of LinkedIn connections are English or Jewish. Go where the action is. What matters is I know everyone I see and they contribute to a more fulfilling life.
