I Know Exactly Where that Is!
My office does not look like this but I still need help with organization and thought this picture would get your attention! (No judgement if your office does look like this--at times my car looks quite similar!!

I Know Exactly Where that Is!

Sometimes, I just can’t find things and I would like to say that those are things within a particular category but the truth is, it varies! It is not uncommon for me to say things like, “Where is that report?” “Now, I know I saved that document and it cannot just disappear!” “Did I give that to you because I thought I did.” Not only is it time consuming to look for things, it is also stressful, especially if it is something you need within a certain time frame. So what to do? One thing that has been helpful for me is having detail-oriented people in my circle. But being unorganized can be a burden for those people if you are not at least doing your part to keep up with what they are providing from their strengths. You want to frustrate an organized and detail-oriented person? Blame them for not being organized and detail-oriented! OMG! They will not have it and because we want them to stay in our circles, I think it is important to take other steps of accountability. One of the things I am doing to help my self help myself, is learning about and using new platforms to get my business in order. Below are three platforms that I am using to minimize, the “Where is Syndrome?

Trello—LOVE Trello! I learned about Trello at a Christian Women’s Network meeting and have been hooked ever since. Everything in my business is being organized using this platform. I am also considering using this platform to organize things for my family. One of my consultants, loves it as well and she is extremely detail-oriented so when a detail-oriented person gives an organization platform a thumbs up, you know you’ve got a winner! It is also an app which is very convenient because one thing that we typically do keep up with is our phones! Amen, yes we do. Check out the video below about Trello!

Your iPhone (If you have one--there are likely similar features with other phones but for this article, I am referencing the iphone)-I mentioned how we keep up with our phones when we can’t keep up with anything else, right!? Our phones have almost become part of our identity—we won’t leave the house without our phones! So, why not use all of the great organization features that not only come with the phone but that you are paying for. I use the calendar on my iphone more often than not not and include the Alert feature. I need an Alert the day before and an hour or so before the commitment. Additionally, I found out last year at one of our contractor meetings from Omar Mohiuddin that I can turn documents into PDFs with my iphone! Who knew? Each year, we have a contractor meeting with a speaker on Ethics and she provides us with a paper certificate which I inevitably would lose. When I mentioned my struggle, Omar suggested that I take a picture of the certificate and download it as a PDF. Sure enough, it worked and I now I can save non-confidential documents in my phone on the spot as PDFs. See the videos below about using the calendar and PDF feature with your phone.

Goals Wizard-This app is new to me but was recommended by one of my Linkedin friends and connections, Kelli Meer. Because I am all about setting some goals but I don’t necessarily have consistent access to my written goals, I was excited to learn about this recommendation. I recently downloaded it and plan to create both short and long term goals that I can easily refer to on a regular and more consistent basis. Check out the video below to learn more about Goal Wizard.

Now, where are those excuses for not being organized? Oh yeah, I can’t find any!

Enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday! Remember, we have been given so much, let’s show gratitude by being a good steward over our blessings!
