I hope this tutorial on the Alphabet labeled generations has helped! What Generation Comes Next? Meet Gen Z
Today we end with Generation Z. The new kids on the block between 4-24 years old with nearly 74 million in the U.S. The average Generation Z received their first mobile phone at age ten. Many of this generation grew up playing with their parents' mobile phones or tablets. They have grown up in a hyperconnected world and the smartphone, their preferred method of communication and entertainment. They spend approximately three hours a day on their mobile device. Shaped Events: Smartphones, social media, never knowing a country at war, seeing the financial struggles of their parents (Gen X). By 2020, Generation Z will be the largest consumer group there is. They turn to YouTube on their mobile device instead of the television. Fifty percent surveyed saying they could not live without it, as compared to different social media networks. They are the YouTube generation. They cannot be without their mobile device and check social media sites continuously. Gen Z is more cautious about their privacy when posting, unlike Millennials, who love to post publicly. Millennials checked social media to see what their friends were doing and update their status. Generation Z uses social media to be entertained rather than connect with friends. They also stick to fewer platforms for more extended periods. Remember that when you market to this generation, it is important to remember almost all the content they consume is through YouTube, Instagram, and Snapchat, because they love visuals. Their average attention span is eight seconds, so brands need to be eye-catching and quick to capture this generation's attention.
