"I hope" sucks! — Try THIS to get more predictable revenues

"I hope" sucks! — Try THIS to get more predictable revenues

Before we left the office and headed off for the weekend, I said to my colleague "I hope someone purchases the premium membership over the weekend."

When I was walking home, I realized this sucks!

Do I just "hope" that someone purchases??

  • Shouldn't I have a proper client acquisition system running on autopilot with predictable results?
  • Shouldn't I have a stream of qualified leads in our HubSpot CRM?
  • Shouldn't I have my calendar full of sales calls with qualified MQLs?

Yes, I should, because we've made over €1,2m+ in revenues and should have everything figured out by now...

...But we don't! ??

The funny thing is that on the surface everything sounds so easy.

Even ChatGPT knows what to do step-by-step:

ChatGPT proposing a new inbound client acquisition strategy

Target, engage, follow up with prospects, qualify them, and close.

It sounds so straightforward that my 8-year-old daughter dares to give me a bit of business advice, too!

(Unsolicited, but I cannot get angry at her, can I?) ??

In the next few months, I want to shift from "I hope" to "This is how our system works."

What's holding me back?

I'm trying to do everything myself.

Dan Sullivan and Benjamin Hardy wrote a great book called Who Not How .

The core idea of "Who Not How" is a game-changer for entrepreneurs and business owners who are stuck doing everything themselves.

The book teaches us to focus on WHO can help us achieve our goals rather than HOW we can do it all alone.

Applying this to my scenario, instead of hoping for someone to purchase the premium Academy membership over the weekend, the shift needs to be towards building a team or system that ensures our sales funnel is always active and full of MQLs and SQLs.

This means finding the right WHO: marketers, sales professionals, investors, or automation tools that can keep the lead generation engine running without my constant input.

The takeaway? Stop wearing all the hats in the business.

Identify the tasks that are outside your zone of genius and delegate them.

Oversee this new well-oiled machine, stepping in only to make strategic decisions.

Remember, shifting from "I hope" to "This is how our system works" isn't just about changing the mindset; it's about changing the approach to business.

As Mike Ames said during our recent podcast interview, we'd better shift from

  • "a recruiter who owns a business"

to

  • "a business owner who runs a recruiting business"

In the next few months, I'm committed to building a reliable system that works, so I can enjoy my weekends without relying on hope alone.

Have a great weekend everyone! ??

Let's go build something great.

Can’t wait to see the future!
