I have joined Facebook/FRL and going to continue to my passion for devices and wireless space

I am pumped to be able to contribute to Facebook's mission of “Giving people the power to build communities and bringing the world closer together” as this is very personal to me.

Let me tell you couple of deeply personal stories on my “Why” (Apologies for the long post):

  1. We were blessed with our 2nd daughter (Kiana) last year during the peak of the pandemic. As for most, this was our first experience going through pandemic, with so many unknowns and fear, we went through the experience of brining a life to this world (and bravo to my wife – Kamna - for being the bravest woman I know for going through this and delivering a baby during this “New Normal”). Having gone through all, we are in so much love with her and she makes all the stress (and lost sleep) well worth. She(Kiana) is almost 17 months now and our older daughter(Kaira) is 5 years. Kiana unfortunately did not have the as much exposure to our family and friends, ?going to parks and doing so many things on a social level that Kaira have had when she was born. They both are different humans and different personalities but we can clearly see the difference in them and one of the major reason is lack of social connections that Kiana have had due to pandemic. This experience and seeing Kiana everyday reinforce my belief for having the strongest human/social connections and what good they can do. So I definitely believe with all my heart in Facebook’s version of “Good world” which is “Closer together”
  2. Over couple months ago, my parents(in India) were going through severe physical challenges. My Mom went through her both knee replacement and during the process, my Dad went into sever depression. It was so hard for me to see them both suffer and I had to make an emergency trip to India to help them out for couple of weeks. Fortunately they both are doing very well now but during the most difficult time of their lives, some of the things which were life saver are following:

  • Whatsapp: Our daily videos calls over whatsapp and hearing them out. Helping my Dad calm his anxiety and panic attacks over the those calls(some time during my middle of the night as its day time in India))
  • Facebook Memories (Feature – On this day): Even during his severe depression, one of the thing my Dad would look forward to every day was Facebook memories because they were here a year ago and so many memories from their stay with us and both of our girls. He would share pictures, check ins, celebrations that we did last year every day which would show up in his Facebook memory.

I very strongly believe that these products helped my Dad come out of his depression along with many other people and medications. So what better way would be than be part of the team who builds these amazing life changing/saving products to bring the world closer together ?

Please know, these are very very personal to me but its important to share my “WHY” and what pumps me every day to do my part in “Giving people power to build communities and bring work closer together”.

I feel beyond fortunate for this opportunity and privileged that I will be able to continue launching amazing devices and experiences. To me devices are like my babies, when I see people carry them, I take tons of pride. I also feel very fortunate to work along side some of the brightest minds on the planet and learn from them. ?#OnwardsandUpwards ! Big thank you to my amazing recruiter @Bill Cooke

Also, once again, very sincere thank you to all my colleagues, friends, managers, mentors and customers at #Microsoft who have helped me grow immensely. I forever will be grateful to you all and will always be rooting for you !

PS: I also absolutely love how they have redefined #WFH. WFH = Where Facebook Happens, perfect way to embrace this new normal.
