I HAVE AN IDEA, perhaps you can help

I have met many older guys who have retired, but they are still very lively in mind if not always in body, they have a tremendous wealth of information and EXPERIENCE, and note I put the EXPERIENCE  in capital letters, because that’s the first part of my idea.

Second part concerns all the bright young engineers, straight out of university/college who have studied for so many years to achieve some wonderful academic achievements, but they DO NOT HAVE  EXPERIENCE, and so they are exposed to a certain extent. I’ve been there so I know what it’s like, and I’ve seen it later in life, sometimes you feel sorry for some guys as they seem to be completely overwhelmed, nobody taught them how tough this was going to be, suddenly they have real responsibilities.

Times have changed dramatically from when I first entered the workplace over 50 years ago, in those days you were put with a senior who took time out of his day to teach you, mentor you, help you, guide you so you didn’t make the same mistakes as he did, it was a great learning process.

Nowadays, that seems to have vanished, for whatever reasons, and I’m sure there’s many.

IMAGINE IF THERE WAS A WEBSITE WHERE THE YOUNG ENGINEERS COULD CORRESPOND WITH THE OLDER VERY EXPERIENCED GUYS TO GET ADVICE, that would be so cool.

Sounds good- Sometimes the old "wildcat engineers" have a lot of good experience and insights to share. I'm semi-retired, but looking for my next employment opportunity. Maybe there's a company out there who sees value in an old wildcat engineer's abilities and background?
