Only start a new social media page when you are targeting a completely different following.

Take these actions TODAY:

• Make sure that the concept is radically different from your current theme. Would you be better off just sharing this content on your existing page? Are the followers you want really a totally different person than the ones who are currently following you?
• Getting followers for a new page is like starting a new business. You are starting from zero. Get a vision of who the ideal client is, and how many you need to make it worth the time.
• Create milestones and a plan to reach each one. Example: "I want to be a 3k dentist followers in six months and 10k followers in a year. I plan to get traffic on this page by blogging about dental 401k plans once a month."
• Hype up the launch before it goes live. Post to your current Instagram page with a teaser about the new handle, and ask people to subscribe before you post anything there.
