I Had This Thought… And You Might Want to Hear It.

A random thought came to me one day while I was in my dining room:?

“How exactly can someone get good at public speaking?”?

See, earlier that day, I was just listening to the stories of other people who were afraid of public speaking before…

…but they eventually became great at it.?

Somehow, I felt a bit inspired to dissect every journey I heard and read about.

That way, those who were too shy to be good at public speaking…

…Or those who were too scared to even do it…

…They could take inspiration from such stories.

So, I reflected a bit…

…until I had that eureka moment.

And if you don’t mind, I’d like to take you through my whole thinking process so you can have the same realisation I did.?

So first, let me ask you:

Do you remember when you learned how to play a sport as a child…

Learned how to sing…

Or learned how to play a musical instrument?

Whatever it was, chances are that to get good at what you wanted to do, you needed to actually do it.

After all, you don’t become an expert at something only by watching it on TV or reading about it in a book, right?

To get good, you had to train…

Practise and do drills…

Make mistakes and learn from them…

And then try again.?

Now, here’s the thing…?

This whole idea of practising over and over again to get better doesn’t only apply to childhood hobbies.

It also applies particularly well to your public speaking skills.?

In fact, one of history’s greatest public speakers, Dale Carnegie, also vouched for practice.?

He once said:?

“Great speakers are not born—they're trained.”
