Generative AI has emerged from the digital shadows to become the unsung hero of the marketing realm. ?My Critique
I have used ChatGPT various times from asking sports-related questions to recipes, but I've never asked it to write me a whole article in a specific tone. It's crazy to me that you can ask an AI chatbot to write you anything you want and it will generate a detailed, long answer within seconds. It's a testament to how far technology has come. When my parents were in college, they didn't have the accessibility to technology that we have. They would have to find all their information in textbooks. We are fortunate today to have AI that can help us quickly access information.
In regards to what ChatGPT wrote for me, I think it did a decent job of writing me an article about generative AI in digital marketing and where it's headed in the future. While the chatbot wrote coherent sentences that covered the topic, it really overdid it with the humor to the point where it took away from the legitimacy of the article and even wrote me a paragraph about how AI can include humor in its content. While I asked the chatbot to write this in a professional but humorous tone, I didn't want it to specifically talk about how it can incorporate humor. Another flaw I saw while writing this article is the bot had trouble predicting the future of generative AI in digital marketing. This is due to the fact that ChatGPT is only programmed to know information as of January 2023.
In the future, digital marketers will use AI systems like ChatGPT to help with the content creation process. Humans will still be the ones brainstorming the ideas, but if they run into any roadblocks in terms of creativity, they can ask the chatbot to suggest witty taglines, craft social media posts that will be engaging, or draft an email that will engage the reader. AI could also excel in personalization by understanding consumer patterns and preferences which could be the key to more effective targeted ads. Lastly, we will most likely see AI take on the role of a market researcher being able to analyze large data sets to predict trends, consumer behavior, and market shifts. The best part is the AI will be able to work round-the-clock analyzing the data. The future of AI is exciting and the possibilities of what it can do are endless, but it isn't here to replace human marketers. It's here to assist humans when they run into roadblocks with their work so marketers can better achieve their goals.
