I-Hack 2023 Event Summary sponsored by BYU-I CSE Dept. Student’s Computer Society
Brigham Young University – Idaho CSE Department Student’s Computer Society successfully completed a fantastic I-Hack (a hackathon) on Oct 20-21, 2023.

A hackathon is a marathon, 24-hour event, where students have the opportunity to find a real-world problem, come up with a solution, and hack together a working prototype or production level product.
?
I-Hack was a unique opportunity to engage in a fun and creative experience that combines learning, networking, and problem-solving challenges. Participants learned new skills by working with like-minded individuals, attending workshops and guest speaker events, and networking with professionals and companies. The hackathon offered a platform for participants to showcase their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while having fun and potentially discovering new career opportunities. Overall, the BYU-I Hackathon was an exciting event that fostered collaboration, innovation, and learning in a dynamic and supportive environment.

The outcome of I-Hack is to helps student build a S.T.A.R. story for their resume, build new skills, and establish networking between students and companies.

Demographics
Nearly 50% of the participates were first time hackers. 18% were women members of our Society of Woman Engineer or ACM-W. More than 32% where non-white and/or international friends.
