I guess I really like Flare screens.

TACTICAL THOUGHT OF THE WEEK:
When you practice special situations is just as important as what you put in.
Most players have a short attention span. I know I did.
For them to retain information better (resulting in better execution during games) I challenge you to examine your practice plan.
When are your players most "locked in"?
Is it at the beginning of a practice? After a high-energy drill? As a part of scrimmaging?
Find the best time to install your special situations to help your players better retain this information.
Get in and get out.
One play, 10 minutes max, rep it, play it, compete, and measure the results.
What has worked for your teams in the past? I'd love to know!
THE STARTING FIVE
BLOB:
Davidson has always been a great BLOB study, let alone Xs & Os. This BLOB is executed perfectly to get your big a look at the rim. Box Zoom Rip.

SLOB:
Similar to the ATO/EOG from Tenerife below, this play by coach Ettore Messina at AE7 Milano is beautifully crafted. I call it Cross 77 Flare. While the play below uses a Spain action to set up the Flare, here we see the 2nd screener in the "77" action arrive later following a screen to get open, and almost slip right into the Flare, making the defender play catch-up the whole time.

ATO:
This one is a two-for-one play; an ATO/EOG from Tenerife. The first is off of a Stack/Spain PNR Flare screen counter, and the second has a Corner Pindown action.

EOG:
This is another two-for-one deal (an EOG and a SLOB all in one). Milwaukee Bucks are running an "Oklahoma" action ("77" screen followed by an STS for the first screener) to perfection.

FAVORITE HALF-COURT SET:
I couldn't decide between these two this week, so why not both??
#1: This first one is courtesy of Maccabi Tel Aviv. A great quick play using a Ram screen (one of my favorite ways to negate a good ball screen defense). By Ramming for the screener, they "arrive alone" to the ball screen and create an advantage. I call this one Ram Turnout Pin.

#2: Here we have a play from one of the best basketball minds, Coach Jasikevicius over at Fenerbahce. This is a beautifully drawn play with lots of misdirection. I call it Horns Ghost Turnout Pin.

Vote for your favorite play this week by Tweeting (yes, I still call it that) about it. I will pick a winner at random for a FREE PLAYBOOK!
ONE QUESTION:
What type of team do you find hardest to score against when it comes to their Baseline out-of-bounds strategy?
This is mainly out of curiosity, but I would also like to know what type of content you might want me to break down in the future, so this is also for you!
BEFORE YOU GO
See you next time!
