5 x Minutes Read - I just got dumped. Send snacks.

Hey friend,

I just got dumped.

Pretty brutal.

I mean the worse thing was I was cheated on first then dumped.

Even worse than that is the fact I had to find out through a friend

I’m still reeling about the whole thing and might need some time tbh.

Who were they?

Oh it wasn’t a person silly.

It was my long time love

And by that I mean a cafe.

I’m due to fly back to Australia for a trip in a few weeks and there was one special moment I looking forward to.

I’d planned out the whole moment.

I’d head down to Bondi Beach, have a sunrise dip and pray my way through the waves,

I’d towel off watching the locals head out to surf or sprint along the beach.

I’d then head up to my favourite ever coffee spot to surprise my old faves.

I’d sip a delicious long black and LOL over the good times.

I’d get all emosh & remember the many sips and dips.

I’d feel like I’d come home.

Only that cafe has been sold I just found out, I didn’t find out until this morning.

Sad times.

Don’t get me wrong I’ll still have the moment but my LTR has deffo moved on.

Joking aside, I was legitimately gutted. It was never just a cafe to me.

It was a community that just happened to peddle caffeinated drinks.

It was not just a personal loss but a loss to the community.

This is the point I want to underline, a business is never just a business.

It’s an institution often, a hub, a landmark to some and mecca to others.

This was THE meeting place for the swimmers, surfers and coffee snobs.

It was never and is never, just business.

Okay cool so other cafes will open - businesses grow and change - things move on.

BUT I need you to grab a hold of this:

“You have to power to build something beautiful, that just happens to be a business”.

This week I was speaking to a property developer about how he could turn his business into a movement.

Let’s call it the Property Club.

We talked about leveraging his epic skills to train others to develop property just like him.

We discussed how to build a community of people he could disciple and train to invest.

We showed how that same community could bank about 20K for his next deposit.

We showed that same community could become a pipeline of future investors.

We talked about how this could help hundreds bank thousands too.

For that to happen, you have to think beyond just business.

For that to happen, you need to dream a little bit bigger.

Business is a force for personal freedom, spiritual growth and to shape community for good.

But you have to stop flirting with the idea and commit to a long-term relationship.

I’d love to be the one to hook you up.

Drop me a DM for a chat.

Love and caffeinated cuddles,

Rhys

4 x Nuggets from a Book -? Retention Point - Robert Skrob

  • Be value led - Focus on creating a sense of belonging.
  • It’s not about you - be fantical about what the customer wants.
  • Onboard clients well and they are way more likely to stick around
  • Think transformations - Not features - How does your product change lives?

3 x Thoughts from the Three Ps of Business, for Good: PURPOSE, PEOPLE, PROFITS

* ???? - How would the world be left poorer without your product? Start there.

* ???? -?Do a peer review - Who else does what you do? How are you better?

* ??-? Never offer one solution - more options = higher probability of a yes

MEMBERSHIPS

I was in a residential library this week. They built a membership programme to add a stream of recurring revenue to their bank.

It was marketed as “The Friends of X Institution” with offers, access and merch to go with it.

Adding juicy recurring revenue is best done through the lens of community and belonging.

Q: What is a tribe you could build with customers, contractors or your peers?

Praying for you x

I propose… we get a non alcoholic beverage when you’re back! Either that or get lost in the National Park - you choose xx
