I got COVID… Did it reset my brain?

I recently went to a mastermind meetup in Austin. It was full of brilliant, successful people, and guess what I brought home with me?

COVID! ?? (heavy sarcasm in that emoji)

Not exactly the souvenir I had in mind. It was a pretty sucky way to end an awesome event, but—surprise!—it did something I didn’t expect.

Apparently, COVID reset my business brain.

Before the event, I admit I felt quite flat—like, why-wont-this-year-just-end-already flat. I hoped being around all some big-shot business owners would spark some inspiration. Spoiler alert: instead of inspiration, I got a nice, hot dose of imposter syndrome. ??

The sicker I got, the deeper into my shell I crawled.

By the end of Day 2, I had to trash all my “I’m gonna explore Austin!” plans and go straight to bed. My grand tour of the city became six hours of airport huddling next to a power outlet, looking like a sad, cable-tethered hermit.

By Sunday, I got my hands on some Paxlovid (thank you, modern medicine) and I rebounded hard. By Tuesday, I was ON FIRE. Productivity? Through. The. Roof. It was like my body reset itself, and my brain followed right along. Suddenly, I was having one of my most productive weeks in, well, ages!

This Saturday just gone?

I only steam-cleaned all our carpets, organised the entire house (including the cable drawer), made the dog food, did 7 loads of washing while I listened to a summit and module 1 of a program I signed up for.

I even managed to take the kids on an epic day out to the aquarium on Sunday.

Did COVID give me superpowers? (or is it just undiagnosed ADHD?)

You might be waiting for the “and then I crashed moment”, but Nope. I feel more energised and focused than I have in months.

It’s like I’ve hit a hard reset.

Ideas are flowing but I’ve also got clarity on what I need to focus on and my enthusiasm is through the roof.

I. AM. BACK. BABY. ??

It feels really good to feel good again—physically, mentally, and about my business. Sometimes, all it takes is a shake-up (okay, not always COVID-level, but you get the point). Getting stuck happens, but getting unstuck? Oh, that feels amazing.

And speaking of strange post-COVID side effects… I’ve now officially fallen down the rabbit hole of The Great British Baking Show (or Bake Off as it’s really called). Never watched it before, but now I’m fully invested.

Could this be a symptom of long-COVID? Asking for a friend. ????

Anyway, here’s to hitting reset and feeling good about our businesses—and maybe discovering new shows along the way.

Talk soon!

Cheers,

Belinda "No More Coffee Today" Weaver

Love this article Belinda Weaver. As someone with chronic illness, I call this the post-sick power-up. When I'm sick or low energy or I'll have only 2 good hours a day, it will feel I'm on power saving mode until I've hit my limit of self-care and rest and then I will have the hunger of 10 men, the energy of 7 armies and I will want to declutter and deep clean everything.

Interesting. It seems you developed a super-power Belinda. I wonder if you can replicate the formula for more people.
