I Follow Your Lead
Dear Dad,
While traveling with your granddaughter Kayla last month, she turned to me and said she wanted to move to California. At that moment, I did not know if she meant while still working for us or not, but i replied that I was her father first and her boss second and her happiness was the most important thing. The next day we were in a meeting in Guadalajara with one of our bigger customers who said we had to open a Distribution Center in the San Francisco area as soon as possible. I turned to Kay and asked if she wanted to do it, she smiled yes and I committed to her being set-up there by 1/1/18. That was it and in an instant life had changed. Not only would she be moving away from me and everyone else here but she would be promoted to General Manager. We spoke about it afterwards and we both agreed she was not happy living in New Jersey. She needed a change and we both felt this would be good for her. Worst case, we will set-up the center and she can leave after two years if she decides she doesn't like it. Judging from her heightened level of happiness, the support she is getting from her family and the raise in salary, I think this has a chance to work out well. I will miss having her around daily, she brings me constant joy and I feel this is the best thing for her so I will just have to live with it. Besides, we will still travel together and there is SKYPE.
You gave me a job when I got out of college when I could find nothing in broadcasting, you gave me the chance to soar. I am doing the same for my daughter, you taught me well.
Regards,
Andrew
