My Obsession with Speed

I've always believed in working quickly. If a task can be done in one week, why take two? The problem is, when we're slow, we fall behind. With AI, we can build prototypes fast, but other steps in the process, like getting user feedback, haven't sped up as much. It's time to change that.

Getting User Feedback, Faster

To build a great product, you need to:

1. Create a prototype
2. Get user feedback
3. Use that feedback to improve

The faster you do this, the better your product will be. Here are some quick ways to get feedback for consumer-facing products:

• Super Fast (0.5 days): Ask 3 friends/team members for feedback
• Fast (2 days): Ask 10 friends/team members
• Quick (1 week): Send to 100 volunteer testers
• Slower (2 weeks): Send to 1,000 users for detailed feedback
• Even Slower (1-2 months): Add to an existing product or do rigorous testing with a large user base

Pros and Cons:

• Faster methods are lower-risk and provide more qualitative feedback (e.g., "Is this confusing?").
• Slower methods are more accurate but take longer.

My Advice:

1. Start with fast feedback tactics.
2. Move to slower methods when you've learned all you can from the faster ones.

A Better Way to Work: "Move Fast and Be Responsible"

The old "move fast and break things" approach had its drawbacks. Instead, let's focus on speedy, responsible prototyping and testing to minimize risks and maximize success.
