I feel FOMO tonight

(With profuse apologies to Eric Clapton whose "You look wonderful tonight" is an unfortunate inspiration for this poem)

It's late in the evening, I'm wondering what clothes to wear.

I looked up on Pinterest to see what's trending everywhere.

And then he asks me, are you sure you'll come like that?

And I say, hey, sorry, but FOMO killed this cat.


We go to a party, and everyone's discussing Game of Thrones,

I feel bad and quickly open Netflix on my phone,

And then he asks me, do you feel alright?

And I say, yes, we are binge watching tonight.


I feel FOMO all the time because I see

How everyone is living around me

And the wonder of it all

Is that I just don't realize how much FOMO makes me miss in life.


It's time to go home now and I've got an aching head,

So I scroll Facebook to see the party pics and what the others said.

And then I tell him, as he drives,

I say, I think I am done knowing about others lives.

And go on to delete Instagram & Facebook as our home arrives!
