I Know It All Already

I Know It All Already

“Oh Shit… I have to eat my own dog food”

I am in (kind of) a creative business postpartum lull after writing and releasing “The Rising Leader Handbook.”? I have a tendency to be crazy inspired/ focused, then have a bit of a contraction after a major expansion.??

I know this, so I look for support in people and programs to lessen the curve.??

That (and my gut) had me sign up for a program that has been on my Instagram daily for months, ‘Tom Bilyeu’s (Impact Theory) Procrastination to Progress.” Getting a workbook and a few videos helps combat the A.D.D. so I can refocus.

Through the first two and a half videos I am like… “I know this shit.”? “I teach it daily.”? “What a waste, I don’t even agree with some of his perspectives.”? “Just do Only 10s, Mark.”

This happens a lot… I’ve read hundreds of books, written a few, attended hundreds of workshops, and led quite a few. There isn’t a lot new for me.

Then it hit me.? At the beginning of every “Mastering Overwhelm” workshop, I challenge the participants: “You are smart people, you’ve probably read some of the same books I have.? There is probably little new in what I am going to share.? What I ask, rather than challenge and judge me for not being original, check yourself if you know this already, great.? Are you applying it?? Are you walking your talk?? Because I relearn something every time I lead this workshop.”?

All of a sudden, Tom was riveting.? The content came alive. ?“Being vague about your goals is playing it safe.? Nothing to be accountable to.? You can’t fail.” ?Ouch.

That was the exact F-cking sentence I needed to hear. I got really clear on my goals on my office floor this morning.

That meme you saw this morning… Do you already KNOW it?

This Week’s Tool:

Screw it, let’s sell someone else's program. Tom Bilyeu has been there (depressed and unmotivated) and triumphed (Billion dollar business, spectacular podcast).?In this program he earnestly shares, in painful detail, every identity shift, mindset fix, attitude adjustment, and action he had to take to get where he wanted to go.

A ton of value for $195.? So much of it is in “Only 10s” and “The Rising Leader Handbook,” but who cares where it is.? What matters is following the instructions to create the life and business you want.

Impact Theory University: Procrastination to Progress

This Week's Book:

"The War of Art - Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles" by Steven Pressfield

I was listening to Steven on the Rich Roll Podcast (ep 732) yesterday and they were discussing “resistance.”? They both shared that resistance never goes away.? To writing, to exercise, to having difficult conversations, overcoming resistance is a lifelong endeavor.?

Ryan Holiday, one of the most gifted and prolific writers of this generation (The Obstacle is the Way, The Daily Stoic, Stillness is Key) says he re-reads The War of Art at the beginning of every project.??

Listening to Steve and Rich is what got me to sign up for Tom’s program.? We all need help.??

This one should be on everyone’s bookshelf

This week’s episode of The Rising Leader Podcast:

Episode 077 | I F$#@'d Up

In today's episode, I take a deep dive into a personal struggle and share my raw experience of making a big mistake that hurt someone I deeply care about. I opened up about the emotional journey of acknowledging my error, taking full responsibility, and working towards repairing the trust that was broken. This candid discussion sheds light on the importance of facing our missteps with integrity and humility.

  • Accepting Mistakes: Acknowledge errors with humility and take full responsibility for your actions.
  • Repairing Trust: Prioritize understanding, empathy, and genuine remorse in the process of rebuilding broken trust.
  • Effective Communication: Listen actively, ensure the other person feels heard, and then offer explanations or clarifications.
  • Moving Forward: Create new agreements and commit to them to move past the mistake and strengthen the relationship.
  • Self-Compassion: Avoid spiraling into self-criticism and remember that making mistakes is part of being human.
  • Learning and Growth: Missteps can be used as opportunities for personal development and enhancing relationship skills.
  • Emotional Impact: Recognize the emotional toll of breaking trust and work towards healing and reconciliation.
  • Resilience and Persistence: Stay committed to repairing relationships, even if it takes time and effort to regain trust

That’s it.

Lots of love, and have a great rest of the week.

?

It can be so hard to be a student when you are usually a teacher. This is a great reminder for me at a perfect moment. I am in a new class right now.
