"I enjoy being part of shaping new aspects of society"
Viktoria Salivonik is a property manager at Lantm?nnen Real Estate, working in the Region South. As a property manager, she and her colleagues are jacks-of-all-trades, handling everything from foundation to roof. From the operation and maintenance of existing buildings to participating in the development of new areas that are emerging.
How long have you been working at Lantm?nnen Real Estate? I started as seasonal staff at a small facility in Alstad, between Trelleborg and Svedala, during the summer harvest of 2015. It was a fantastic summer job. I realized how large Lantm?nnen is – and that there was a real estate department. That was particularly interesting since I was going to study real estate business in the fall.
You started as a junior property manager during your studies? Yes, I initially got a parental leave replacement position. After my graduation, I was hired permanently. Today, I am responsible for properties in Falkenberg, Varberg, and Esl?v.
What where you attracted of with Lantm?nnen? It's an exciting brand and the Group spans so many different industries. I get to be part of something bigger, which is why Lantm?nnen is an ideal workplace for me.
Tell us more about how you as a property manager, are a bit of a jack-of-all-trades? We handle everything from A to Z, or from foundation to roof. I love that I get to follow the development of areas, properties, and businesses. I get to see the results of ideas and solutions. How did this turn out? What will I do next time? It’s so fun and keeps me engaged and curious.
What does a typical workday look like? I am visiting various properties at least once a week. Today, I am in Falkenberg and Varberg where we also have Lantm?nnen Machinery in both locations.
What has been the trickiest challenge you've solved so far at work? When a molasses tank in Falkenberg accidentally caught fire early this year. The on-site response was phenomenal, we did what we could and should. I was so proud of the cooperation with the local business, our risk management, and the communication with the fire service, contractors, and local media. Aside from the fire, the tank was scheduled to be dismantled – a process that began and was completed earlier than planned.
What do you know about the job today that you didn’t when you started? That property management is extensive and requires cooperation and team efforts. We need to collaborate to find solutions because the work is complex. Also, you need to be proactive and understand that things take time – so patience is always good!
