I Don't Need a Museum

I Don't Need a Museum

Yogi Berra, famous for playing baseball for the Yankees, also became well-known for his quirky comments and observations on various topics. A few of my favorites attributed to him are;

  • "You can observe a lot by watching."
  • "It ain't over till it's over."
  • "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going, because you might not get there."
  • "Never answer an anonymous letter."
  • "When you come to a fork in the road, take it."
  • "I'm lucky. Usually you're dead to get your own museum, but I'm still alive to see mine."

The Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center is celebrating its 25th anniversary at Yankee Stadium next month. Yogi was spot on when he said he was lucky to see it. To know how much he was loved. Most people won't have a museum dedicated to them; I know I won't. I hope my family will remember me as a loving husband and father and my clients and colleagues for being a skilled estate planning attorney who always put my client's interests first, served the community, and advanced the legal profession. Honestly, I think most of us would want to be remembered as individuals who did what we could during our lifetime and afterward to care for our loved ones. To me, that is what estate planning is all about. Showing your loved ones how much you care for them. No museums necessary.
