I don’t know if you know this, but 10 years ago I left my job with nothing.

I’d spent the previous 18 months working for Andy Harrington's NLP training company, and I’d seen first hand what it took to build a business that not only made money, but also made a real difference.

But after years of studying personal development with the likes of Tony Robbins, David Shephard, and many others, I felt the time had finally come for me to ‘go it alone’.

Anyway...

In 2008 I set up my first business as a freelance copywriter.

It was harder than I’d imagined.

Late nights.

To cut a long story short, I somehow managed to grind out just over ￡50k in sales in my first year.

Life was GOOD!

Then in March 2009, I got a call from my number one client.

This guy was paying me a retainer of ￡3k/mo. In other words, that one contract made up over half of my annual income.

He thanked me for all my hard work, but explained that he’d decided to cancel our contract.

To make matters worse, my fiancée was 7 months pregnant with our first child… and I had a wedding to pay for just 6 months later!

WHY AM I TELLING YOU THIS?
