I don’t know what I am doing!

I don’t know what I am doing!

“I don’t know what I am doing”

…is a phrase that has been in my head a lot lately!

How about you?

In these strange times, with so much change that has come about rapidly, do you find yourself lost at times?

Things that used to come naturally you now need to think through in a new way?

Say for instance…touching your face! It used to be something I did all the time without even noticing. Now I touch my face …in the shower.

Hanging out with my family and friends as well as ALL my work is now done …on Zoom.

It is as if my whole world now looks like a version of Hollywood Squares!

It’s striking me as funny this morning but actually I keep finding myself stressed out because…

I don’t know what I am doing… in the way I used to know.

To top things off, I am doing new things that would be challenging under normal circumstances.

I’m leading a community of passionate coaches through a focus group experience. I have been leading groups for over a dozen years and I love it!

But… because this is a new program and the world has turned upside down, I find this phrase running through my head a lot.

“I don’t know what I am doing.”

All this “not knowing” has me on a learning curve that has shown me, ironically, what I do know.

I do know how to adapt.

In some of the murkiest moments of not knowing, if I am able to stay present…

a new idea or new way of doing things will come to me.

For those of you who are in business, especially in the coaching business, this is an opportunity to learn new ways of doing things.

This can be as simple as figuring out how to do something in a virtual way that used to be done in person. Perhaps reaching out to connect or partner with people you hadn’t considered before because of distance.

Maybe a new niche that is now on your radar because they need help more than ever.

One of the skills that we coaches have – that I believe the world needs more of now – is to “be with”. To simply be in the moments of our lives even (especially) when they are hard.

To be present to all the beauty we don’t normally notice.

To pay attention when that voice tells you that you “don’t know what you are doing” …knowing that “not knowing” simply means you are in new territory.

New experiences call for you to open up to now with wonder and curiosity.

This new way the world is working right now calls for you to look for what you do know and see how to apply it in new and exciting ways.

I would love to know what you have discovered in your world when you don’t know what you are doing!

All the Best, Kat
